We acknowledge that AI is a useful but dangerous technology
We are still hopeful for the future of humanity and we want to take action
We think we can help most effectively through education, recruiting, and connection
Educate scientists, educators, professionals, organizations, and the general public about AI safety
Provide a platform across all media for AI safety education
Connect the community with timely updates on important AI safety developments
Since I recognized AI safety as a looming issue (about 6 years ago) I have been looking to help. I felt like I was well positioned to do something here with leverage, and many of my science colleagues were dismissive of the value of education to the general public.
